J&D Pierce receives more Grove all-terrain cranes to create UK’s largest fleet

• Leading structural steelwork contractor J&D Pierce added the four- and five-axle Grove cranes to support major landmark infrastructure projects.
• The latest deliveries mean J&D Pierce now operates the largest fleet of Grove all-terrain cranes in the UK.

Leading structural steelwork contractor J&D Pierce has expanded its fleet with multiple new Grove all-terrain cranes. The latest deliveries include GMK5250XL-1, GMK5150XL, and GMK4100L-2 models. With these additions, the company now has the largest fleet of Grove cranes in the UK. The cranes will work across major projects, including a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) energy development in Scotland; a landmark new indoor arena in Cardiff; and the redevelopment of a stand at a prestigious football stadium in North Wales.

These projects reflect the increasing scale and complexity of construction for J&D Pierce, which requires stronger lift capacities, greater flexibility, and the ability to install larger steel assemblies and modular components. To meet these evolving needs and reduce reliance on external crane suppliers, J&D Pierce is focused on expanding its heavy-lift fleet.

Many of the latest projects involve challenging site conditions, with restricted access and uneven terrain. So Grove's proprietary MEGATRAK® single wheel independent suspension system, which features on all the Company's cranes, is a welcome technological advantage thanks to the higher ground clearance, constant tire contact, and all-wheel steer the system offers.
