The City of Lewisville and
Keep Lewisville Beautiful (KLB) are partnering for the 2026 North Texas Community Cleanup Challenge, running now through May 31.
Residents are invited to roll up their sleeves, grab some gloves, rally their crew, and help clean and green the city's streets, waterways, parks, and green spaces this spring.
This is a friendly regional competition that challenges participating cities to see which community can collect the most litter - and earn some well-deserved bragging rights along the way. Every bag counts. Each cleanup logged is credited to the community where it takes place, bringing Lewisville one step closer to the top of the leaderboard.
Join the Citywide Spring Cleanup - April 11
Community members are encouraged to attend the Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 11, 8 a.m.-Noon, at Thrive, 1950 S. Valley Parkway. This high-energy, citywide event gives volunteers the opportunity to make an immediate and visible impact.
Registration is required, and volunteer waivers will be signed onsite. KLB will provide everything needed, grabbers, gloves, and trash bags, so participants can focus on making a difference. As an added bonus, Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) will hold its Mariposas Conservation Expo onsite, featuring family-friendly activities that celebrate sustainability, conservation, and environmental education.
Can't Make April 11? Create Your Own Cleanup.
If residents can't make the April 11 event, they can still take part in the challenge. Individuals and groups can coordinate with KLB to schedule a cleanup at a time and location that works best for them. All necessary supplies will be provided. After collecting litter, volunteers simply complete a post-cleanup survey and submit photos to KLB. All bagged debris removed from locations across the city counts toward Lewisville's total.
River Care
PARD also is looking for resident volunteers to help clean up the Elm Fork of the Trinity River.
River Care is a monthly volunteer opportunity focused on protecting and restoring the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and surrounding habitats at Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area. Events will be held on the second Saturday of the month, from 10 a.m.-Noon, now through May. Volunteers will assist with activities such as litter removal, invasive species management, and habitat improvement projects that support wildlife and water quality at LLELA. This program is suitable for individuals, families, and groups who want to make a tangible impact on local conservation efforts while enjoying time outdoors.
To sign up, visit LLELA.org.
Service Saturdays
PARD also has its Service Saturdays, where volunteer events are held every third Saturday from 8 a.m.-10 a.m., now through May, to bring the community together to care for Lewisville's parks, trails, and green spaces. Projects vary by location and may include planting, mulching, cleanup, light maintenance, and beautification efforts. The program is open to volunteers of all ages and is a great way to support the city's parks while connecting with neighbors and City staff. Locations include various parks and natural areas throughout Lewisville, with a schedule available on City Calendars and Amilia.
To sign up, visit PlayLewisville.com or register through the City's Amilia system.
