After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Lee Health System, Inc. (Lee Health), Fort Myers, Florida, agreed to pay $18,848,530.40 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Lee Health employed two individuals that it knew or should have known were excluded from participation in Federal health care programs. OIG also contended that Lee Health submitted claims for transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures that were not performed or failed to meet coverage criteria.
