McDonough Street full closure in JolietPost Date:10/09/2025 2:57 PM District 1, Construction McDonough Street full closure in Joliet October 9, 2025 CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that repairs by CSX Railroad to a rail crossing located on McDonough Street, west of U.S. 6 in Joliet will require a full road closure starting, weather permitting, 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. A detour will direct motorist to U.S. 6, Larkin Avenue (Illinois 7) and Jefferson Street (U.S. 52). The work is being overseen by the railroad and is expected to be completed by 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. The public should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
