Hurd Introduces First Bill the LOCAL Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Jeff Hurd (CO-03) introduced H.R.1125, the Local Opportunities, Conservation, and American Lands Act (LOCAL) act, which will relocate the Bureau of Land Management's headquarters to Grand Junction, Colorado. President Trump completed this move in his first term; however, it was reversed under the Biden-Harris administration.

"Westerners deserve access to those who oversee the lands they call home," said Rep. Hurd. "Relocation of the BLM will improve management of federal lands, increase coordination with local communities, and strengthen tourism. The BLM maintains federal lands used for livestock grazing and recreation, which will be more effective after moving the headquarters close to those lands. The BLM belongs in Colorado and the West, and we look forward to a partnership that will benefit everyone."
