Marauder Family Weekend Brings Families Back to Campus

Millersville University will welcome students and their families to campus for Marauder Family Weekend on Friday, Sept 18., and Saturday, Sept 19. The weekend gives families a chance to spend time with their students, experience campus life, and take part in activities throughout the University.

Family Weekend will begin Friday evening with the Hospitality Suite from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Student Memorial Center Atrium. Families can check in for the weekend, grab some popcorn, and take pictures at the photo booth.

Later that evening, families can compete in a cornhole tournament sponsored by Campus Recreation from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Student Memorial Center Multi-Activity Court. The Marauders women's volleyball team will also take on Shepherd University at 7 p.m. in Pucillo Gymnasium. Friday will end with music bingo, where winners take home prizes, at 8 p.m. in the Student Memorial Center Galley.

Saturday's events will begin with Coffee with the Vice President from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Student Memorial Center Atrium. Families will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Mary Beth Williams, vice president for student affairs, while enjoying coffee and conversation.

Families interested in learning more about Millersville can join a walking history tour at 10 a.m. led by Dr. Richard Frerichs '64, '69M, vice chairman of the Council of Trustees and professor emeritus.

At noon, the Marauders football team will take on Slippery Rock University at Biemesderfer Stadium. After the game, several afternoon activities will be available from 2 to 5 p.m., including a family escape room, Stuff-A-Plush and Kids Crafternoon.

The weekend will also feature more Marauder athletics, with men's soccer facing East Stroudsburg University at 4 p.m. and field hockey taking on Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 6 p.m.

Families looking for something more relaxed can attend Cider & Choir at 4 p.m. at the Biemesderfer Executive Center. The event will include cider, cider donuts and live a cappella performances from VilleHarmonics and Chromatic.

With activities ranging from athletics and games to campus traditions, Marauder Family Weekend gives families a chance to reconnect with their students while seeing what life at Millersville is all about.
