SGMC Health Expands Physician Network and Specialty Services in Professional Building

  • SGMC Vascular Surgery and SGMC Electrophysiology celebrate the opening of their new offices
  • SGMC Cardiology cuts the ribbon on their office expansion, where Interventional Cardiology will see patients

SGMC Health recently celebrated the completion of a 11,500 sq. ft. medical office buildout at its main campus. This includes the opening of two new clinic locations, SGMC Vascular Surgery and SGMC Cardiac Electrophysiology and an expansion of the SGMC Cardiology suite, all located in the SGMC Health Professional Building.

Since its establishment in 2011, the three-story glass building on the corner of Patterson Street and Woodrow Wilson Drive, has been a cornerstone for outpatient services, offering a standalone imaging center and a walk-in laboratory on its first floor.

Over the years, the building has transformed into a hub of specialized healthcare, housing a wide range of physician offices on its upper floors. Now the facility accommodates eight practices staffed by 21 physicians and 15 midlevel providers. The medical offices enhance access to specialized care, encompassing a broad spectrum of services, including Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Structural Heart, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Pulmonology, and Surgery, with specialists in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery.

SGMC Health's dedication to expanding its physician network is reflected in its ongoing recruitment of top-tier medical professionals. Recognizing the growing healthcare needs of the community, SGMC Health continues to attract skilled physicians and specialists to South Georgia, enhancing its capacity to deliver comprehensive and cutting-edge care.

"This expansion represents a significant investment in the health of our community," said Senior Vice President of Regional Hospital Operations Johnny Ball. "With these additional resources and providers, we're better equipped to meet the diverse healthcare needs of our region, ensuring that our patients have access to the best care close to home."

The Professional Building has evolved into a vital healthcare resource for South Georgia, integrating advanced diagnostics and specialized treatment under one roof. The new space will not only improve the patient experience but also streamline collaboration among physicians, fostering innovative care solutions.

As SGMC Health continues to grow and adapt to the dynamic healthcare landscape, its expansion of the Professional Building stands as a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. By bringing more specialists and advanced services to the area, SGMC Health reaffirms its role as a leader in healthcare for South Georgia and beyond.

SGMC Health has the area's most comprehensive physician network with more than 100 providers. With 12 primary care locations and more than 20 specialized offices in Lowndes, Berrien, and Lanier counties, the network provides more than 300,000 patient encounters annually.
