Keeping Hudson County’s Children Safe on the Road

Jersey City Medical Center is helping families protect their youngest passengers in partnership with Hudson County's Safe Kids Buckle Up Child Passenger Safety Program. With certified technicians and no appointment needed, the program ensures that every child is traveling as safely as possible.

Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for children over six months in the United States, and far too often, these tragedies are preventable. Studies show that when children are properly buckled into car seats, they are far less likely to be injured in a crash, yet national research confirms that a large number of car seats are still used or installed incorrectly. For families in Hudson County, this reality underscores the importance of having trusted resources close to home.

Through a partnership with the Safe Kids Buckle Up program and the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, Jersey City Medical Center provides free car seat inspections by certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. The program reflects our mission to prevent injuries and protect children, while also giving families practical support and peace of mind. It is one of the ways the Medical Center stands out-bringing a level of consistency and accessibility to child passenger safety that is unique to Hudson County.

The program is offered at 415 Montgomery Street in Jersey City, and from April through September, families can stop by every Thursday, and from October through March, inspections take place on the first and third Thursday of each month between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. No appointment is necessary, and each inspection is provided at no cost, thanks to funding from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

By helping parents and caregivers ensure that their children are traveling safely, JCMC is proud to reduce preventable injuries and strengthen our community's well-being. Protecting our youngest passengers is a responsibility we take seriously, and through this county-supported program, we are making it easier for families in Hudson County to do the same. We thank Hudson County and the Safe Kids Buckle Up program for their leadership and partnership in making this life-saving initiative possible.
