9/14/2026 UPDATE: Due to delays in receiving materials, the closure of the eastbound Interstate 80 Exit 173 on and off ramps will be extended through tomorrow. Crews will continue to work throughout today, but the on and off ramps will be opened this evening at dusk and remain open overnight. Crews will close the on and off ramps tomorrow morning for work and reopen by the end of tomorrow. See original release below:
ORIGINAL RELEASE (9/10/2026): WAMSUTTER, Wyo. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and contract crews from Lewis & Lewis will be closing the eastbound Interstate 80 on and off ramps at Exit 173 in Wamsutter on Monday, Sept. 14, for milling and paving operations. The work and closure are scheduled to begin at approximately 7 a.m. Monday morning and is estimated to be completed that same day.
Eastbound drivers heading to Wamsutter during the closure should detour onto Exit 184, and loop back onto westbound I-80, exiting at Wamsutter via Exit 173.
The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change. WYDOT is committed to providing the public with update information as work progresses. WYDOT would like to remind drivers to drive safely, put their phone down and obey all roadside signs and closures.
