Dushanbe Counter Terrorism Process High Level Conference

On November 4-5, 2024 there was held the High-Level Conference on "Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms - The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process" in Kuwait City.

This conference was organized jointly with the United Nations and the State of Kuwait and was a logical continuation of the "Dushanbe Process", the first joint conference of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, which began in 2018.

The conference was opened by the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Sabah and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov.

The Conference, along with several thematic sessions also featured a Ministerial session which co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Mr. Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya.

During his statement Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasized: "Recent developments in international security highlight, more than ever, the need for decisive action to maintain global peace. The "Dushanbe Counter-Terrorism Process" has proven to be a valuable platform for constructive dialogue, advancing our collective response to the complex challenges to international and regional security."

The conference ended with the adoption of the Kuwait Declaration on Border Security and Management, which emphasizes the important role of multilateralism in strengthening border security and preventing the movement of terrorists across borders around the world.
