SAN FRANCISCO - Not-for-profit Sutter Health is bringing same-day care to San Francisco's Financial District with a new urgent care clinic at 55 2nd Street. The clinic will serve residents, workers and visitors, offering a convenient, accessible option for non-emergency medical needs near offices, homes and transit lines.

"As downtown San Francisco continues to evolve and grow, Sutter Health is proud to grow with it," said Liz Armstrong, CEO of Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation - San Francisco. "Our new urgent care will make it easier for people to get access to timely, high-quality care where they live and work. It's also one more way Sutter's supporting the city's continued renewal and forward momentum."

Sutter's new 6,100-square-foot urgent care will be staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians from Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation and Sutter West Bay Medical Group. The team will provide same-day evaluation and treatment for common illnesses and injuries, including sprains, minor fractures, infections and respiratory conditions. On-site X-ray and laboratory services, as well as EKG (test that measures electrical activity of the heart), will allow patients to complete essential diagnostic tests quickly and conveniently, supporting quicker diagnosis, treatment and follow-up without leaving the clinic.

"Our team provides care that's both efficient and thorough," said Dr. Tom Peitz, emergency medicine specialist and chief of staff for Sutter's CPMC. "When someone walks through our doors, they can expect expert attention for their immediate needs and a seamless handoff if further care is required."

The Financial District location builds on Sutter's ongoing efforts to expand primary and urgent care access across San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. In 2025, Sutter opened new urgent care centers in Berkeley, Livermore, Rohnert Park and Santa Clara, bringing the total number of new outpatient care sites across its entire Northern California network to 38 of the 47 planned by 2028. Additional San Francisco locations are planned for next year to further strengthen access to timely, high-quality care for residents and workers across the city.

"Expanding our urgent care network across the Bay Area allows Sutter to meet patients where they are, whether that's close to home, work or along their daily commute," said Carolin Delker, vice president of Sutter Health's Urgent Care Service Line. "Each new site strengthens our connected system of care and brings our vision of convenient, high-quality care for the communities we serve to life."

Sutter Health offers a wide range of health and wellness services across San Francisco, including primary, specialty and now once again urgent care. Its presence in the city is anchored by California Pacific Medical Center (Sutter's CPMC), which operates three acute care hospital campuses: Van Ness, Davies and Mission Bernal, as well as the Pacific Heights outpatient center. Sutter's Institute of Health & Healing also resides on its Pacific Heights campus. Together, these medical facilities are equipped to provide comprehensive care, from emergency services and advanced surgery to rehabilitation, cancer care, transplantation and women's health. The new urgent care clinic at 55 2nd Street complements this network by offering same-day care for non-emergency needs, supported by Sutter's integrated system of hospitals, physicians and specialists.

Sutter's San Francisco Urgent Care at 55 2nd Street will be open 365-days, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
