The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) is excited to announce that we're hiring an Urban Forester Manager to help lead the care and growth of Alexandria's vibrant urban forest. "This role helps drive how we manage our tree inventory, elevate maintenance standards, and deliver quality parks and green spaces that our community can rely on. It is a direct investment in operational excellence and aligning our work with best practices across both the public and private sectors," said Hashim Taylor, Director of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities.

In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping the health and beauty of our parks and city landscape by:

  • Planning and implementing maintenance cycles and standards
  • Ensuring high community satisfaction with our parks and green spaces
  • Leading and supporting a dedicated team to exceed employee engagement benchmarks
  • Driving operational excellence aligned with public and private sector standards
  • Promoting courteous, high-quality service for all residents and visitors
  • Managing budgets, procurement, and payroll effectively
