Ranking Member Shaheen Statement on Passage of Republican Recissions Package

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement on the Senate's passage of the recissions package to cut $9 billion in federal spending.

"News of this bill's passage will be met with cheers in Beijing, which is already celebrating America's retreat from the world under President Trump. These DOGE cuts are just more examples of the chaotic and haphazard approach we've seen from this Administration. Make no mistake, these cuts will make America less safe and less prosperous. Letting China write the rules of the road globally means more unfair trade, more fentanyl trafficking and more threats to our national security. And letting conflict, hunger and disease grow around the globe only invites more instability in an already unsettled world."
