Azle's May 3, 2025 General Election cancelled

On January 7, 2025, Azle City Council passed an ordinance calling for a General Election to be held for May 3, 2025 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Council Member Place 3, 4 and 6.

The filing deadlines for candidate placement on the ballot and declaration of write-in candidacy have passed. The City Secretary has certified in writing that each candidate on the ballot is unopposed for election to office. Therefore, the Texas Election Code authorizes a governing body to declare each unopposed candidate "elected to office" and may cancel the election.

At the March 4, 2025 Azle City Council meeting, Council approved Ordinance 2025-074 cancelling the May 3, 2025 General Election. The following "unopposed" candidates were declared "elected to office" and will take an Oath of Office in May:

• Mayor - Randa Goode
• City Council, Place 3 - Stacy Peek
• City Council, Place 4 - Josh Berry
• City Council, Place 6 - Brian Conner
