Overnight Full Closure of the Westbound State Route 118 in Moorpark for Safety Barrier Installation beginning at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026

The City of Simi Valley is sharing a press release from Caltrans regarding an overnight full closure of the westbound State Route 118 in Moorpark for safety barrier installation between Princeton Avenue and New Los Angeles Avenue. Please see the press release below for additional details.

Caltrans announces an overnight full freeway closure on westbound State Route 118 (SR-118) between Princeton Avenue and New Los Angeles Avenue in Ventura County. This closure is part of the Arroyo Simi Safety Fence Project to install safety barrier systems along the Arroyo Simi Overhead Bridge in the city of Moorpark. The overnight closure will allow crews to safely move K-rail to the left side of the Arroyo Simi Overhead Bridge in preparation for drilling and coring post base plate anchor bolts.

The full closure of westbound SR-118 will occur from 11:00 p.m. Friday, January 16 to 6:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026. The Princeton Avenue on-ramp to westbound SR-118 will be closed during overnight construction.

All closures are subject to change. Motorists will be detoured via local routes during these closures. See detour details below.

DETOUR INFORMATION
Westbound SR-118 Detour:
• Exit at Princeton Avenue off-ramp
• Travel south and west on Princeton Avenue
• Turn south on Spring Road
• Turn east on New Los Angeles Avenue
• Reconnect to southbound Route 23
All other construction activity will take place during daytime work hours. No traffic impacts are expected during daytime construction.

Caltrans urges motorists to avoid the area during construction and use alternate routes where possible, including U.S. 101, SR-23, and I-5.

This safety project will construct new safety barrier systems on both the northbound and southbound directions of SR-118, spanning the Arroyo Simi Overhead in the city of Moorpark. In collaboration with the city of Moorpark and surrounding Ventura County communities, Caltrans initiated planning and design of permanent preventative infrastructure.
