Johnna Margalotti Joins Print Hub

I am delighted to share with you that Johnna Margalotti has joined the Print Hub as a staff editor for planning.

Johnna comes to the Hub, where she is involved in both daily and enterprise planning of our digital report, after three years as a news assistant. Johnna will work alongside Rebecca Rillos, Michael Whitley and me - along with our design and editing teams - on a mix of daily, enterprise and weekend planning.

Johnna has always been an information omnivore. So she was thrilled to spend the past two years as a charter member of the reimagined News Desk, working at the nexus of the most comprehensive news report in the business. She helped shape the desk's operations, planning strategies and ways of working while learning the ins and outs of the entire newsroom. She also played a key role in organizing cross-desk coverage of some of the biggest news events of the decade so far, including the Gaza war protests, the Los Angeles wildfires and the 2024 presidential election.

Michael Slackman summed up her time on the team this way: "Johnna is the full package: She is thoughtful, enthusiastic, an incredibly quick study and fun to work with. We will absolutely miss her on the News Desk, but we are thrilled to see her move into the next stage of her career at The Times as an editor."

Before joining The Times in 2023, Johnna was a social worker at a supportive housing site in Brooklyn. She also previously worked as a research assistant at Columbia University, where she contributed to policy reports on probation, parole and youth justice. She graduated from Cornell and earned a master's degree in social policy from Columbia's School of Social Work.
