Reps. Steve Womack, Bruce Westerman, and Rick Crawford silent on racist Truth Social post portraying the House Speaker and Obama family as monkeys
LITTLE ROCK- Arkansas Democrats are calling on our Congressional delegation and Governor to condemn the racist & vile social media post made by the Trump administration depicting the Obamas as monkeys.
From Arkansas Democrats Chair Retired Army Colonel Marcus Jones:
"The video that President Trump posted on Truth Social is vile, repulsive, embarrassing and deeply racist.
Governor Sarah Sanders, Sen. Tom Cotton, and our elected representatives should be clear about where they stand. They have a responsibility to condemn this kind of disappointing political speech that takes our country backwards. If not, they normalize this type of racist content that further divides our country. As Republican elected officials, their silence is an endorsement. This isn't about partisan politics; this is about right and wrong.
The President of the United States should stop generating unsettling and offensive AI-videos and instead focus on lowering costs for families and releasing the remaining 3 million Epstein files that his Department of Justice is withholding from the American people."
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the only Black Republican serving in the Senate, is calling this video "most racist thing I've seen out of this White House." Rep. French Hill condemned the video in an X post earlier today. Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt initially defended the video, saying: "Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public." The video has since been taken down.
None of Arkansas's elected Republican leaders have released social media posts or statements celebrating Black History Month.
