On 18 September 2026, the Second World Public Assembly, themed "New World: Values That Unite", was held in Moscow, organized by the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations "World Peoples Assembly."
In a video address, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev welcomed the Assembly's efforts aimed at developing international public dialogue, strengthening mutual understanding and bringing together representatives of different countries and cultures around shared values.
In his video address, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov emphasized that the Assembly format is establishing itself as a sought-after platform for people's diplomacy, contributing to the development of mutually respectful interstate dialogue and the maintenance of an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding among people.
As part of the Assembly's programme, a panel session was organized on humanitarian cooperation within the SCO, at which the Organization's Secretariat was represented by Counsellor S. Viarheichyk.
"World Peoples Assembly" is an international union of non-governmental organizations and citizens who share and promote the ideas and values of Eurasian integration, the protection of peace, and the strengthening of friendship, harmony, partnership and good-neighbourliness among peoples.
The main goal of the Assembly is to shape a public integration model of a Greater Eurasian partnership of peoples based on spiritual and moral principles, in the name of establishing peace and harmony, through the development of multilateral cooperation and public (people's) diplomacy.
