Colorado Democrats Hit the Road in Greeley to Kick Off Six-Day Statewide Bus Tour

DENVER - Colorado Democrats kicked off their rollicking "Our Future. Our Colorado." statewide bus tour Thursday at Margie's Java Joint in Greeley, beginning six days of community events, voter outreach, and some of the best windshield time in the country ahead of the November election.

The tour is scheduled to make 25 stops through Oct. 20, with plenty of Colorado scenery between events. County parties and local organizers are hosting events that give voters time with candidates and connect volunteers with opportunities to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot while building momentum for community-driven wins across the state.

Neighbors and local volunteers joined the candidates over coffee and breakfast burritos before the bus pulled out of Greeley. The gathering gave people a chance to ask a question, snap a photo and get inspired before continuing to knock on doors to get out the vote.

Local hosts are putting their own stamp on the week, from a dog costume contest in Edwards to farmers-market visits on the Western Slope. The gatherings are designed to leave room for conversations and a chance for local communities to show off what makes Colorado such a great place to live, work, and play.

"We've got a bus full of Democrats and six days to spend with the people who make Colorado Colorado," Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib said. "Our county parties have put a lot into these stops. We're coming to help them knock doors, bring more people into the work and have some fun along the way."

The statewide candidates participating in the tour are U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper; Attorney General Phil Weiser, the Democratic nominee for governor; Secretary of State Jena Griswold, the Democratic nominee for attorney general; State Senator Jeff Bridges, the Democratic nominee for state treasurer; and Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder Amanda Gonzalez, the Democratic nominee for secretary of state.

"President Trump's broken agenda and illegal war with Iran are driving up prices and hurting Coloradans," U.S. Senator Hickenlooper said. " Our small businesses, farmers, and ranchers deserve better. Today is about building the turnout we need to take on MAGA's corruption and stop this cost-of-living emergency."

"Listening to the stories of Coloradans is what powers and inspires my public service," Attorney General and Democratic nominee for governor Phil Weiser said. "My commitment is to be a governor who shows up and listens to all Coloradans. This week's bus tour is an opportunity to hear from Coloradans in their communities on what is working and where we need to do better."

"I grew up in rural Colorado, and I know what it means when your community gets overlooked," Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for attorney general Jena Griswold said. "Coloradans deserve leaders who will show up and fight for them. As attorney general, I'll take on the affordability crisis and defend our fundamental rights."

"Colorado dollars should make life more affordable for the people who live here," State Senator and Democratic nominee for state treasurer Jeff Bridges said. "I want to talk with Coloradans about how the treasurer's office can help put a home within reach and lower their energy bills."

"I've spent my career turning good ideas into real improvements for Colorado voters, and I know there's always more we can do," Jefferson County Clerk and Recorder and Democratic nominee for secretary of state Amanda Gonzalez said. "I'm excited to travel across Colorado, hear directly from voters about what matters to them, and bring that perspective to the secretary of state's office."

U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, Democratic nominee for Colorado's 8th Congressional District Manny Rutinel, former Gov. Roy Romer and former U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter joined the candidates in Greeley.

"The work of winning an election starts with neighbors talking to neighbors," U.S. Representative Joe Neguse said. "I'm proud to join the volunteers and local leaders here in Greeley who are doing that work and helping shape Colorado's future."

"Colorado is a big state, and you can't understand it from one place," former Colorado Governor Roy Romer said. "You have to get out and listen. I'm glad to see this team making the trip and giving people a chance to tell them what matters."

"Campaigns are a lot of hard work, but they should be fun, too," former U.S. Representative Ed Perlmutter said. "Get people together, hear them out and give them a reason to get involved. That's what this tour is about."

U.S. Rep. Jason Crow is scheduled to join the tour later Thursday in Aurora for a rally and canvass launch.

"Coloradans deserve leaders who work every day to make life easier for them," U.S. Representative Jason Crow said. "We're traveling across our state to show up, listen, and fight for a government that answers to working families-not special interests."

The days ahead include the third annual DemWest in Palisade on October 16, focused on public lands and Colorado's outdoors, and DemZest in Pueblo on October 18, bringing candidates and supporters together to organize in Southern Colorado.
