WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Emilia Sykes (OH-13) announced that Matt DiLauro, President of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2L, will be her guest at tonight's State of the Union Address.
Rep. Sykes selected DiLauro to highlight the vital role union workers play in Ohio's economy and reaffirm her commitment to hardworking families. She is also promoting her bipartisan legislation, the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act, which would eliminate federal income taxes on overtime pay so workers keep more of their wages. Rep. Sykes introduced the bill to expand overtime tax relief to employees excluded from the provisions in H.R. 1, the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill."
USW Local 2L represents thousands of tire and rubber workers in Akron, Ohio, and has a proud history of advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and strong benefits for its members. The local is a cornerstone of Ohio's manufacturing sector and continues to play a vital role in supporting good-paying union jobs.
"Ohio's workers are the backbone of our economy, and they deserve to keep every dollar they earn," said Rep. Sykes. "I'm proud to have Matt DiLauro in Washington as we continue the fight for fair wages and commonsense policies like the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act."
The State of the Union Address will be delivered tonight at 9 p.m. ET in the House Chamber.
