President of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe, to visit Cyprus and Greece

President of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe, is travelling to Cyprus and Greece for a series of meetings with national authorities to discuss recent macroeconomic developments and Eurogroup priorities, including the digital euro and the Savings and Investments Union.

Today (Tuesday, 15 April), President Donohoe is in Nicosia for bilateral meetings with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides and the Minister of Finance, Makis Keravnos. He will also meet with members of An Garda Síochána serving with the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

On Wednesday (16 April), he will be in Athens for bilateral meetings with the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

I look forward to engaging with my colleagues from Cyprus and Greece and hearing their perspectives on how we can work together to advance the Eurogroup's work and priorities.

Cyprus and Greece are two standout economies in the euro area. The economic stewardship from both countries has achieved fiscal consolidation and productivity-enhancing structural reforms that have delivered more growth and steeper declines in public debt compared to the euro area overall. Both countries have valuable insights as we navigate current challenges and shape the euro area's economic future.
