Guibal Britt, Albertsen Headline All-OVC Selections

SIUE women's tennis standout Margaux Guibal Britt and Head Coach Adam Albertsen earned top league honors from the Ohio Valley Conference, it was announced Thursday.

Guibal Britt, a senior from Rossville, Tennessee, was named the OVC Player of the Year. Playing No. 1 singles this season, Guibal Britt holds a 16-7 singles record. Albertsen was selected as the OVC Coach of the Year. He passed the 100-win mark in dual match victories this season and now has posted six consecutive seasons of double-digit dual match wins.

Additionally, Guibal Britt and teammate Elena Palioura, a sophomore from Thessaloniki, Greece, were named first team in singles. Stefaniya Anikina, a junior from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, was tabbed second team in singles. Guibal Britt and Anikina were selected as All-OVC in doubles.

The Cougars, 14-2 overall this season, were a perfect 5-0 in OVC regular season matches and head into this weekend's OVC Championships at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis as the No. 1 seed. SIUE has a bye into the semifinals and faces the winner of the Lindenwood-Western Illinois quarterfinals match. SIUE's match Saturday is scheduled for 10 a.m.
