Transit impacts announced for June 21 Pride Festival and Parade

Iowa City Transit will detour multiple buses throughout the day on Saturday, June 21, 2025, during the Iowa City Pride Festival and Parade.

Washington Street will be closed between Clinton Street and Gilbert Street on Saturday, June 21, for the entire day. As a result, outbound bus routes 1-South Iowa City, 2-Court Street, and 9-Towncrest will detour via Clinton Street to Burlington Street after leaving the interchange to rejoin their regular routes.

The Pride Parade will begin at noon on Saturday, with road closures on Clinton Street starting around 11 a.m. Several bus routes serving the Downtown area will be detoured during the event, including the 6-Peninsula, 7-North Dodge, 10-West Iowa City, and 11-Rochester. These detours will remain in effect until the parade concludes and streets are reopened to traffic.

Stop 7200 on Washington Street at Linn Street and stop 7201 on Washington Street at Gilbert Street will not be serviced on Saturday.

Stops that will not be serviced during the parade are:

  • Stop 7400 Clinton Street @ Jefferson Street Outbound
  • Stop 7207 Clinton Street @ Jefferson Street Inbound
  • Stop 7023 Madison Street @ Jefferson Street
