Greensboro Parks and Recreation September Events Roundup

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department hosts a number of events this September, beginning on Thursday, September 3, with the Yoga, Mind & Body Class at the Tanger Family Bicentennial Gardens, 1105 Hobbs Rd.

Here are some other September programming highlights:

Yoga, Mind & Body Classes
Thursday, September 3, through October 15 | All Ages | Tanger Family Bicentennial Gardens, 1105 Hobbs Rd. | 5:45-6:45 pm | Free

This nine-week session of drop-in mind and body classes for all skill levels is in partnership with the YMCA of Greensboro.

Coffee & Canvas
Friday, September 11, through October 23 | Ages 50+ | Trotter Active Adult Center, 3906 Betula St. | 11 am to 12:30 pm | Free

Enjoy a cup of coffee and refreshments with friends while you paint a canvas to commemorate the day. Call to register at 336-373-2927.

Puzzle Palooza
Thursday, September 17 | All Ages | Downtown Greenway, Morehead Park Trailhead, 475 Spring Garden St. | 5:30-7:30 pm | Free

Introducing a fun gathering for puzzle enthusiasts of all ages. Explore and try new puzzles, connect with fellow puzzle lovers, and enjoy an afternoon of problem-solving and creativity.

Adulting 101
Thursday, September 17, and Wednesday, September 23 | Ages 13-18 | Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, 501 Yanceyville St. (both dates) | 6-7:30 pm | Free

These free, interactive workshops are designed to prepare teens for real-world responsibilities. Registration is required.

Tweens on the Scene
Monday, September 21 | Ages 12-21 | Pickup/dropoff at the Greensboro Sportsplex, 2400 16th St. | 9:30 am to 2:30 pm | $30

Tweens on the Scene is a program that will provide a needed recreational experience for participants with disabilities between the ages of 12 and 21 years old. The Tweens on the Scene experience will incorporate social interactions for our participants, also continuing to help develop their independence, practical life skills, and build their self-confidence while amongst peers in a fun, safe, structured setting. Drop off at 9:30 am and pick up at 2:30 pm is at the Greensboro Sportsplex, 2400 16th St. The day's event will include a trip to Ninja Kidz Action Park from 10:30 am to noon. Bring money for lunch at Stamey's Barbecue. After lunch, the group will be returning to the Sportsplex for games until pick up at 2:30 pm. Registration is required.

Family Fishing Program
Friday, September 25 | All Ages | Lake Higgins, 4235 Hamburg Mill Rd. | 5-6:30 pm | $5 per person

Join Parks and Recreation Staff for fun Family Fishing Programs at Lake Higgins. This is a catch and release fishing program designed for people of all ages. The department will provide the bait and the poles, and chairs if necessary, and all you have to do is bring your patience. The event will set up around the Education Pond at Lake Higgins, which is located immediately to the left of the Marina office. Registration is required for this program.

Glenwood Family Fun Day: Parenting and Mental Health Fair
Saturday, September 26 | All ages | Glenwood Recreation Center, 2010 Coliseum Blvd. | 1-3 pm | Free

Bring the family for the Glenwood Family Fun Day: Parenting & Mental Health Fair with music, skate park demonstrations, step teams, multicultural dance groups, and more. Parents and children can connect with community support organizations.

Open House, Wellness & Resource Fair
Tuesday, September 29 | Ages 50+ | Trotter Active Adult Center, 3906 Betula St. | 10 am to 1 pm | Free

Celebrate National Senior Center Month at the Trotter Active Adult Center Open House! Tour the facility, explore the fitness room, enjoy exercise demonstrations, connect with wellness vendors and community resources, and take advantage of food, goody bags, door prizes, flu shots, and an old/unwanted medication collection.
