Work on Route 522 Improvement in Mifflin County Continues September 23-27

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work will continue on a project to improve approximately five miles of Route 522 in Lewistown Borough, Derry, and Decatur townships in Mifflin County the week of September 23. The project will address drainage deficiencies throughout the corridor and improve the ride quality of the road surface and multiple structures within the project limits.

On Monday and Tuesday, the contractor will begin preparations for paving by correcting the profile on sections of the roadway. Paving is scheduled to get underway on Wednesday and continue for the remainder of the week. At the end of each day, fresh pavement markings will be applied to the road surface. Flaggers in the roadway will enforce alternating traffic patterns while this work is completed during daylight hours.

Overall work on this project involves roadway reconstruction, paving, drainage improvements, guide rail installation, pavement marking, bridge preservation work, and miscellaneous construction. Grannas Bros. Stone & Asphalt Co., Inc. is the contractor on this $6.2 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion in late October. All work is weather-dependent.
