Press Release: Record Turnout at Hiring Event Hosted by Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium and Aerotek in Cortez

(Cortez) - In a significant milestone for local workforce development, the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium (CRWC) within the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) announced today a record-breaking turnout at the Aerotek Solar Farms Hiring Event held at the Cortez Workforce Center on Friday, September 20, 2024.

148 job seekers attended the event, a remarkable figure for a rural area like Cortez. Aerotek is looking to hire 100 workers, and the strong turnout will help them reach that goal. The strong interest reflects the growing opportunities available in industries such as solar energy, offering new career paths for local residents looking to enter the workforce or explore different career paths.

"We're thrilled to see such a high level of interest in these career opportunities," said Suzie Miller, Director of the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium. "This turnout shows that our community is eager to explore new job possibilities and that rural areas have a wealth of talent ready to contribute to industries that are growing rapidly."

"We are excited to meet so many motivated individuals looking for new opportunities," said Aerotek Recruiter Leo Juarez, noting the impressive skill level of the candidates. "We're committed to helping them build rewarding careers with long-term potential."

The hiring event is part of CRWC's initiative to connect job seekers in rural areas with growing industries, ensuring that residents have access to a wide range of job options. These opportunities include skilled labor positions, management roles and entry-level jobs that provide pathways for career growth. By fostering connections between local talent and businesses, these hiring events help rural communities thrive by providing meaningful employment opportunities for their local residents. The high level of engagement is a testament to the importance of focused hiring efforts in rural areas, where local job seekers are eager to contribute to industries that provide stable, well-paying jobs.

Job seekers who were unable to attend the hiring event, are invited to apply for open positions and explore the various career resources offered by the CRWC at crwc.colorado.gov.
