WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced $5,693,508 in federal grant funding for infrastructure upgrades to four Virginia airports. This funding is awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program for FY26, which is made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that the senators helped negotiate and pass.
"The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is the gift that keeps on giving, continuing to make Virginia's airports safer and more efficient for the travelers that move through them. We're thrilled to announce more federal dollars that will modernize airports across the Commonwealth," said the senators.
The program grants will be distributed as follows:
Warner and Kaine have been fierce supporters of efforts to modernize and improve Virginia's airports. Earlier this month, the senators announced more than $73 million in federal funding to improve 3 Virginia airports and $21 million to upgrade 8 Virginia airports. Last year, the senators announced almost $106 million in federal funding for airports across the Commonwealth. Many of these grants were made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, legislation that has secured billions in federal funding for airport infrastructure since 2021.
