Exo Removes the Subscription Barrier for Handheld Ultrasound

Flexible deployment options now support every clinical setting, from large, connected health systems to independent operators and disconnected environments.

Santa Clara, CA-August 4th, 2026 - Exo (pronounced "echo"), the leader in AI-powered, accessible medical imaging, today announced expanded deployment options for Exo Iris® that give healthcare providers the freedom to choose the handheld ultrasound experience that best fits their clinical setting, infrastructure, and scale. The options extend Exo Iris from large, connected imaging programs to single operators and care teams working in disconnected environments.

The expansion removes a key adoption barrier by giving customers a choice between a fully connected cloud experience and a subscription-free option that enables immediate scanning after a one-time activation. Health systems and organizations that need cloud storage, documentation, user management, and account-based security can choose Exo Iris with Exo Works® Connect. Clinicians and programs that need simplicity, speed, and affordability can select Exo Iris on its own and begin scanning without an ongoing subscription.

The fit-for-purpose options broaden access across diverse care settings: large hospitals and multi-site health systems can standardize connected workflows; EMS organizations can continue to use the connected experience they value; and rural practices, international health programs, and independent clinicians can deploy a streamlined, standalone solution where connectivity or recurring software costs are not the right fit.

"Healthcare doesn't operate with a single workflow," said Sandeep Akkaraju, CEO of Exo. "Some organizations need enterprise cloud capabilities, while others simply need to power on and scan. By giving customers that choice, we're making AI-powered ultrasound practical for more clinicians, more care settings, and more patients around the world."

Every Exo Iris option includes image-transfer options, including PACS, access to all 16 FDA-cleared AI diagnostic indicators across cardiac, lung, volume management, and population health use cases, and software updates.
