Rep. Nancy Mace Condemns Solicitor Gipson For Logan Federico's Death, Supports Impeachment

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 17, 2026) -Congresswoman Nancy Mace issued the following statement in response to the South Carolina House Constitutional Law subcommittee hearing on the potential impeachment of Fifth Circuit Solicitor Byron Gipson:

"Solicitor Byron Gipson's soft on crime policies have failed the people of South Carolina, and Logan Federico is dead because of his failures.

"Let this sink in: Alexander Dickey had nearly 40 criminal charges, but kept getting released back into our communities. He should have been behind bars for good. But because of light sentences and early releases, he walked free and murdered Logan Federico, a beautiful young woman whose life was stolen because our justice system completely failed her.

"Her blood is on Gipson's hands.

"This isn't his only failure. Gipson has been cutting backdoor deals, going soft on violent criminals, and betraying the families who trusted him to deliver justice.

"Enough is enough. Impeach the Solicitor. South Carolinians deserve better. Logan Federico's family deserves better. And every victim of crime deserves a solicitor who will actually do their job and not coddle criminals."
