The MSCA4Ukraine 2025 call closed on 16 September 2025. Organisations wishing to manage the next phase of the scheme submitted 20 applications.

Under this call, the European Commission has allocated an extra €10 million under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) to support displaced researchers from Ukraine through the MSCA4Ukraine fellowship scheme.

This new round of funding will enable selected organisation or consortium to provide support to recruiting organisations across Europe and associated countries. It will allow them to offer doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from Ukraine the opportunity to continue their work in safe and supportive environments.

Fellows will benefit from

  • favourable working conditions
  • high-quality supervision
  • training and career development opportunities
  • family allowances and special needs support where applicable

Since its creation, the MSCA4Ukraine has provided 173 displaced researchers with fellowships worth a total of €35 million. This is helping them to continue their work safely in universities, research centres, businesses, and public institutions across the EU and countries associated to Horizon Europe.

Call for researchers expected in 2026

The selected organisation or consortium will open a call for proposals offering doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships displaced researchers from Ukraine

The call for researchers is expected to open in the first half of 2026. Interested applicants will be invited to prepare their applications together with recruiting organisations in the EU and Horizon Europe associated countries, including Ukraine.

Supported fellows are encouraged to maintain strong ties with their research and innovation communities in Ukraine. They will help strengthen cooperation and integration between Ukrainian and European scientific communities through placements, fieldwork, and joint projects. Should conditions allow, Ukrainian organisations will also be able to use the scheme to recruit researchers back in Ukraine.

A significant number of fellows under previous editions of the project chose to focus on issues supporting Ukraine's reconstruction.
