SB storytellers, join Santa Barbara Public Library in celebrating stories that center queerness, liberation, family, immigration, and belonging at SB Speaks: Cultural Storytelling. This event's themes are inspired by the SB Reads 2025 selection: The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen.

Register to be a storyteller.

Dates to Remember

Storyteller Submission Period: October 3-October 24, 2025
Selection Notification: Week of November 3, 2025
SB Speaks: Cultural Storytelling Event: November 14, 2025, Faulkner Gallery Central Library, 6-7:30pm

Storytelling Guidelines

  • Performances must be 5 minutes or less
  • Registration is required in advance and space is limited
  • Selected participants will be contacted in early November

Some questions to ignite your stories

  • What does queer joy mean to you?
  • What does home mean to you?
  • What does community and belonging mean to you?
  • What does liberation mean to you?
  • How has migration impacted your life?
