Yesterday, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin traveled to western North Carolina to survey hurricane damage and highlight ongoing relief and recovery efforts. |
|
Joined by local leaders, Secretary Mullin highlighted that FEMA has surged billions of dollars into North Carolina, including two projects announced just this week: more than $103 million for community projects and $26 million for housing in Henderson, Polk, and Yancey counties. As governor, Roy Cooper botched Hurricane Helene recovery, failing to appoint a dedicated disaster recovery coordinator, vetoing a key relief bill, and allowing his Office of Recovery and Resiliency to be labeled a "case study in dysfunction" plagued by mismanagement. As a reminder: Democrats are currently defunding the Department of Homeland Security, which includes FEMA, impacting relief and recovery efforts just weeks out from the start of the hurricane season. |
