As Kansas City prepares for an influx of visitors and increased activity in the year ahead, the Kansas City Health Department is helping residents prepare through Match Ready KC: Heart of the City, a series of free, community-wide safety and CPR training sessions designed to empower everyday people with life-saving skills.
The goal of Match Ready KC is to train 100 or more residents in CPR and emergency response, strengthening the city's preparedness by ensuring community members feel confident stepping in to help during medical emergencies-especially in crowded or congested spaces where professional responders may need additional support.
"This is about preparation, not fear," said Dr. Marvia Jones, Director of Health for the Kansas City Health Department. "As our city becomes busier, community readiness matters. These trainings help people feel confident stepping in to help a neighbor, a visitor, or a loved one when seconds matter."
Designed as a come-and-go, family-friendly community training, Match Ready KC: Heart of the City combines hands-on education with food, music, giveaways, and interactive activities for all ages. No pre-event registration is required.
Training opportunities include:
Community partners will also be on site, including Charlie's House, Fire/EMT personnel, and other local organizations focused on safety and emergency preparedness.
The event series will take place outdoors at community locations across Kansas City and is open to the public.
