MOLINE, IL (Sept. 1, 2026) - For more than a decade, John Deere Operations Center™ has helped farmers connect their field, machine, and operational data in a centralized platform. And now it's being taken to the next level with JD, the artificial intelligence (AI) assistant built into Operations Center that gives farmers an entirely new way to put their data to work: by simply asking it a question. As AI makes farm data more useful and valuable, John Deere is also highlighting its Farmer Data Commitment, reinforcing that farmers' data belongs to them, it remains under their control, and it should create value for their operation.
A New Way to Put Farm Data to Work
JD enables farmers to have a conversation with the vast amount of field, machine, and operational data they generate, creating the opportunity to improve yields, drive savings and strengthen farm profitability through AI. Instead of searching across multiple dashboards or reports, farmers can ask questions such as:
How did my fuel use during tillage this year compare with the last three years? - helping identify best practices and result in fuel savings.
How did singulation compare across my fields, and what impact did it have on yield? - enabling a better understanding of how equipment settings can impact yield.
Which sprayer operator is covering the most acres per hour? - resulting in understanding operational efficiencies.
When is the optimal time to harvest based on historical trends? - enabling better planning and management of labor.
With JD, farmers can surface the right information quickly and receive practical responses grounded in their own data. The result is a simpler way to make sense of complex operational information and act with more confidence.
"Farmers have more data available to them than ever before, but the value comes from their ability to use it in the moments that matter," said Jahmy Hindman, Chief Technology Officer at John Deere. "JD changes the experience from navigating through a sea of data to simply asking it a question. It puts advanced data analysis within reach by enabling farmers to receive answers tailored to their farm and their needs in a matter of seconds."
Your Farm. Your Data. Your Call.
As tools like JD make farm data more useful, John Deere believes that farmers should remain in control of their data, understand how it is used, and receive clear value from it. The Farmer Data Commitment outlines ten principles behind that approach:
You control your farm data.
John Deere does not sell your farm data.
John Deere uses your farm data only as described in its agreements and policies and will communicate changes clearly before they take effect.
John Deere will require dealers and connected partners to maintain transparent data practices.
John Deere uses your farm data and aggregated, anonymized data to deliver measurable value to you through improved machine performance and decision-making insights.
You can choose which third parties to share, and not share, your farm data with.
You have the freedom to turn off the flow of your farm data to third parties at any time.
John Deere does not use your farm data for agriculture commodity trading or speculation.
You should receive clear value from your farm data.
John Deere will continue to listen to farmers, strengthen its data practices, and develop new solutions that help you receive value from your farm data.
"Farmers receive value from their data when they can use it to make better decisions, and we believe that value should come with control, transparency, and choice," said Deanna Kovar, President, Worldwide Ag & Turf Division: Production and Precision Ag, Americas and Australia at John Deere. "Our view is simple: farmers should control their data, clearly understand how it is used, and benefit from the insights it can create. JD and the Farmer Data Commitment are part of the same vision for helping farmers put their data to work on their terms."
John Deere is opening a limited Early Access Program for select U.S. agricultural customers, allowing eligible participants to express interest in participation. The AI assistant will become more broadly available later this year through Operations Center on web, mobile, and eventually via in-cab display interface.
As JD evolves, John Deere plans to introduce capabilities tailored to customers across turf, construction, roadbuilding, and forestry, extending its value across the company's broader customer base.
At the 2026 Farm Progress Show from September 1-3, attendees can visit John Deere at Outdoor Lots 144 and 153 on West Progress Avenue to learn more about JD and the company's approach to data and AI.
