Secretary General Alain Berset will pay an official visit to the Republic of San Marino (31 March-1 April) on the occasion of the Investiture Ceremony of Their Excellencies the Captains Regent.

Alain Berset will be the Official Speaker in Palazzo Valloni, where he will deliver a speech.

In addition, a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Political Affairs, International Economic Co-operation and Digital Transformation Luca Beccari, and an audience with the outgoing Captains Regent Matteo Rossi and Lorenzo Bugli will take place.

San Marino, a member of the Council of Europe since 1988, represents a unique model of democracy based upon civic autonomy and self-government with a firm belief in multilateral cooperation.

Prior to the official visit to San Marino, the Secretary General will be at the community of San Patrignano in Coriano (Rimini, Italy): a rehabilitation centre providing support and expert guidance to people suffering drug addiction and marginalisation.

San Patrignano is a key partner in advancing innovative approaches to addiction treatment within the Pompidou Group.
