Mayor Yemi Mobolade issued the following statement after the Pikes Peak Continuum of Care released the 2026 Point-in-Time Count, which identified 1,413 people experiencing homelessness, compared to 1,745 in 2025 - a 19% decrease. The count also identified 308 people experiencing unsheltered homelessness, compared to 522 in 2025 - a 41% decrease. The Point-in-Time Count is conducted annually and provides a one-night snapshot of homelessness in the community.
"While the Point-in-Time Count represents a snapshot of a single night, this year's results are encouraging. The decrease reflects the impact of the hard work happening every day across our community to connect people with shelter, services, housing, and support.
"The City of Colorado Springs remains committed to doing its part through street outreach, public safety coordination, shelter support, cold weather response, encampment management, neighborhood cleanups, and investments in long-term housing solutions. But meaningful progress is never the result of government alone.
"This progress belongs to a village of partners: service providers, nonprofit and faith-based organizations, outreach teams, volunteers, businesses, public safety professionals, and individuals with lived experience; all working together to address one of our community's most complex challenges. While there is still much work ahead, these results remind us that action matters, coordinated efforts matter, and hope matters."
The City of Colorado Springs continues to work alongside the Pikes Peak Continuum of Care, service providers, nonprofit and faith partners, public safety agencies, and community organizations to address homelessness through coordinated street outreach, shelter support, cold weather response, public safety coordination, encampment response, and investments in housing solutions. The City's goal is to support efforts that make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring while balancing compassion, public safety, and long-term stability for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
