Rep. Kelly presents Community Champion Award in Butler County

BUTLER, PA -- On Wednesday, Oct. 7, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA) presented his latest Community Champion Award to students and staff at Moniteau High School's Special Blend Cafe.

"When I first met these amazing students and staff in March, I knew what they have here at Moniteau was incredibly special. This program provides real-world experience for the students, and it provides practical skills they can take into the workforce upon graduation. They are making an impact both in the school and in the community. They are most deserving of this award," said Rep. Kelly.

The Special Blend Café gives students at Moniteau High School hands-on, real-world experience and is designed to teach students fundamental skills they can apply after graduation. The café serves students and staff at Moniteau High School, along with numerous special events. Thanks to the dedicated staff, students are learning valuable lifelong personal and interpersonal skills while also serving others.

The Community Champion Award recognizes and thanks service-minded individuals throughout Pennsylvania's 16th Congressional District for selfless and significant contributions to their surrounding communities. Each winner is presented with an official award plaque from Rep. Kelly's office, a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol building, and a statement of congratulations entered into the official Congressional Record.
