A Staffordshire councils board with a shared aim of effective sustainability and boosting economic resilience will set out its long-term vision at a public meeting next week.
The Staffordshire Sustainability Board (SSB) is holding its annual public session on Wednesday 24 September, from 2pm to 4pm at the Council Chambers, County Buildings, Stafford.
The webcast meeting will bring together councillors from district, borough, city and county councils responsible for sustainability and waste across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It will highlight key initiatives and support the county's ambitions for sustainability, community engagement and shared efficiencies.
Among items discussed will be how local businesses are being supported in energy and cost reduction to enhance operations, updates on collaborative waste reduction schemes at county recycling centres and future pledges by the board.
SSB chairman Nigel Yates from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council said:
Staffordshire is full of passionate people with practical ideas and ambition to deliver on our key pledges across the county. This board is about turning that ambition into action - together we're building a brighter future for our communities on important issues which affect everyone."
SSB vice chairman Andrew Mynors, who is also Staffordshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Connectivity, said:
By working together, Staffordshire councils can achieve success through shared values with the interests of our communities at the heart of everything we do.
Effective joint working on waste management and energy efficiency means we can drive down costs wherever possible for residents, businesses and council operations. We look forward to discussing ideas on how we can innovate further at our meeting next week."
People can join the meeting via live webcast on the county council meetings webpage.
