LITTLE VALLEY -- Cattaraugus County Election Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler remind voters Early Voting for the upcoming General Election will run through Sunday, Nov. 1.
There are two locations: the Cutco Theater at Jamestown Community College Cattaraugus Campus in Olean and in the gymnasium of the former Little Valley School, 207 Rock City St. in Little Valley. Hours for remaining days of Early Voting are as follows:
"Both of our Early Voting sites have seen a steady stream of voters this year," said Commissioner Kevin Burleson.
Tuesday, Nov. 3 is General Election Day in New York State. To be eligible to vote at Early Voting or Election Day, a voter must have registered by Oct. 24. Eligible voters may vote early, however, persons who vote during the early voting period are NOT eligible to vote on Election Day (Nov. 3).
"There is still a small window of time to vote early via early-mail or absentee ballot (if you qualify by application), vote early in person, or vote in person on Election Day. You can apply for an early-mail or absentee ballot in-person at our office until Nov. 2 - (the statewide deadline to apply by mail has passed.) Ballots being returned by mail then need to be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by your county Board of Elections by Nov. 10," said Spittler.
New York State voters are not permitted to cast a ballot on a voting machine if they have requested and been issued an absentee ballot for that election, in order to prevent double voting. Voters who have already been issued an absentee ballot can still vote in-person using an affidavit ballot.
Sample ballots for each election district are available at www.CattCo.gov and will be available at the Early Voting sites.
Information on Early Voting hours are available at www.CattCo.gov or by calling the Board of Elections at 938- 2400 through 2403.
