Route K Remains Closed for Bridge Replacements in Montgomery County

Bridge over Loutre River NOW OPEN - Bridge over Dry Fork Creek SCHEDULED CLOSURE

HANNIBAL - Route K in Montgomery County will remain closed through early fall while bridge replacement projects continue.

The Route K bridge, over the Loutre River, 0.4 mile west of Missouri Route 19, near Big Spring, is now open following the completion of a bridge replacement project that began in early December 2025.

Contractor crews are scheduled to move and begin construction on the second of two bridge replacement projects on Route K, located over Dry Fork Creek, 1.8 miles west of MO 19, near Big Spring. Work is estimated to be completed by early fall. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

Gene Haile Excavating, Inc. was awarded the contract last year in the amount of $3.9 million.
