SEsports wins Great American Conference Championships in Rocket League and Overwatch

ADA, Okla. - SEsports - the eSports teams of Southeastern Oklahoma State University - took home Great American Conference Championships in the games "Rocket League" and "Overwatch" on April 18 at East Central University.

This is the second consecutive GAC Championship in "Rocket League" for SEsports, which entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed. After a forfeit win pushed Southeastern to the semifinals, SEsports was simply dominant, taking a 3-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist in the semifinals, and a 4-0 win over top-seeded East Central in the final match.

Members of the Rocket League team are Dawson "DEEJAY" Meador, a senior from Piedmont; Christian "CrimsonChin" Vining, a junior from Silo; Gabriel "Gucci.Grape" Peer, a freshman from Guthrie; and Brayden "bj" Boyd, a freshman from Desoto, Texas.

In Overwatch, Southeastern came into the tournament as the top seed of six participating teams with a 5-0 regular season record - all by 3-0 sweeps. Southeastern took a 3-0 sweep over East Central in the semifinals, then claimed the title with a 4-1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State at the in-person final match.

Overwatch team members coached by Garrett Lovins are Garrett "Allokade" Morrison, a graduate student from Durant; Joshua "Spacemaker" Bell, a junior from Soper; Ethan "RoboticCat" Cooper, a senior from Bells, Texas; Jacob "DarkFokz" Gentry, a senior from Boswell; Lukas "FluffNuggets" Lowrance, a sophomore from Trenton, Texas; Tyler "Veil" Rorie, a junior from Hugo; and Azure "Saturn" Ammons, a graduate student from Caddo.

"Our program has been on the rise for multiple years, and taking both of these conference championships in the same year is a great step," coach Lovins said. "We've got a great chance to make noise at the national level in the next few weeks, and we hope to be celebrating bigger trophies soon."
