Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) has announced the appointment of Jeff Langston as the university's first Vice Chancellor for Operations and Chief Operating Officer (COO), a new senior leadership role created to guide the university's operational strategy amid unprecedented growth. Langston has served as Dean of the College of Health and Human Services since 2023 and most recently as Interim Dean of the College of Business.
"We are very fortunate to be able to have such an experienced and seasoned professional in this crucial leadership position at LSUA during a time of tremendous enrollment and campus growth," said LSUA Chancellor Paul Coreil. "Jeff's many years of executive leadership experience makes him uniquely qualified to do an outstanding job as LSUA's first Vice Chancellor of Operations and COO. Jeff has demonstrated exceptional leadership as a dean, and I am confident he will excel in this vital role supporting every corner of our campus as part of the Senior Leadership Team."
As Vice Chancellor for Operations and COO, Langston will provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for the university's operational, facilities, and student-facing services, aligning these areas with LSUA's institutional goals. His responsibilities will include directing facility services, deferred maintenance, capital project oversight, risk management, campus safety, and Information and Educational Technology (IET) Services. He will also oversee key student support functions like auxiliary services, procurement, scholarships, financial aid, and student accounting to ensure seamless service delivery and an exceptional student experience.
The role also carries responsibility for advancing institutional innovation, including spearheading initiatives in artificial intelligence and operational efficiency, as well as managing governmental and community relations to secure resources and support for LSUA's priorities. As COO, Langston will serve as a key liaison between academic and operational units, supporting faculty, staff, and student engagement through coordinated campus planning and infrastructure development.
Speaking of his new position as COO, Langston said, "I am excited to step into this new role and work alongside our leadership, faculty, and staff to further establish LSUA as a model for student success. My priority is to build on the university's strong foundation by advancing strategies that support academic excellence and institutional growth. With LSUA on an upward trajectory, I look forward to aligning our operations with that momentum to ensure lasting success."
Coreil noted that Langston will continue serving as Dean of the College of Health and Human Services until a new dean is named, but he added, "Jeff's leadership will be critical as we continue to build the systems and structures needed to sustain LSUA's extraordinary growth and further our mission as Louisiana's fastest-growing four-year university."
