Reaccreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board demonstrates the County of Monterey Health Department's commitment to health equity, continuous improvement, and high-quality public health services to improve the health and well-being of all Monterey County residents.
Salinas, California - The County of Monterey Health Department today announced it has successfully completed a review process to maintain national accreditation status through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). In maintaining its accreditation status for another five years, the County of Monterey Health Department has demonstrated that it meets PHAB's quality standards and measures and has the capacity to continue to evolve, improve, and advance efforts to protect and improve the health and well-being of Monterey County residents.
The non-profit PHAB works to advance and transform public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation. PHAB's accreditation program, which receives support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, sets standards against which the nation's governmental public health departments can continuously improve the quality of their services and performance.

"This reaccreditation reflects the dedication of our staff across all Health Department bureaus and the strong partnerships we have built throughout Monterey County. We hope this achievement reassures our residents, community partners, and elected officials that we remain committed to delivering high-quality public health services that are responsive to the needs of our communities."
The County of Monterey Health Department initially achieved national accreditation status through PHAB in 2018 after undergoing a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed assessment process to ensure it met a set of national quality standards and measures. Continued accreditation demonstrates the Department's ongoing commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure, advancing health equity, improving organizational performance, and addressing evolving community health priorities.
