This weekend, residents can expect noise and bright lights from round-the-clock construction on the Del Mar bluffs as crews take advantage of a full closure of the railway.
Starting as early as 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, SANDAG crews will begin taking access to the railway at 8th, 11th and 12th streets, Coast Boulevard and the parking lot at North Torrey Pines State Beach.
The work will include installing steel pilings south of 4th Street and pouring concrete between 7th Street and Seagrove Park.
Some parking will be restricted near the work areas. Walking trails at the ends of 10th and 11th streets and near Carmel Valley Road could be closed temporarily. Residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Train service will resume at 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13.
Intermittent night work on SANDAG's Bluffs Stabilization 5 project is expected to continue through mid-2027.
