Published on October 29, 2025

During council work session, Fort Worth City Council issued a proclamation announcing Saturday, Nov. 15, as America Recycles Day - an exciting declaration of the City's commitment to sustainability.

The City of Fort Worth invites residents to join the celebration of America Recycles Day with fun, educational activities for all ages. The Environmental Services Department and the Fort Worth Public Library are partnering to host main events at two library locations:

Saturday, Nov. 15, 10 a.m.-noon

  • Golden Triangle Library, 4264 Golden Triangle Blvd.
  • Vivian J. Lincoln Library, 8829 McCart Ave.

The celebration's main events on Nov. 15 will feature live demonstrations, interactive booths, recycling games and hands-on learning experiences to help residents better understand the recycling process. Attendees can take the Recycling Pledge, earn free giveaways and learn more about Fort Worth's curbside recycling program. WM, our residential collections partner, will also make a special appearance offering education on their new state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility and showcasing WM recycling collection trucks.

Recycle Week, Nov. 9-14

The Fort Worth Public Library is adding more to the festivities by hosting a series of recycle-themed learning activities at multiple library locations throughout the week (Nov. 9-14) leading up to the Saturday main events. These activities include children's story hours, recycled art displays, arts and crafts, ESL classes on recycling topics and much more.

Why recycling matters

Recycling keeps valuable materials in use, reduces waste and conserves energy and natural resources. Every bottle, can, piece of paper and cardboard placed in the blue recycling cart helps protect the environment and keeps Fort Worth cleaner and greener for future generations.
