Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) today released a statement following reports of a potential peace agreement between Israel and Hamas:
"Last night's announcement of a possible agreement between Israel and Hamas provides hope for an end to the devastating war in the Middle East. I've long called for a ceasefire in Gaza that would ensure Israel's peace and security and end the devastating humanitarian crisis and needless killing of Palestinian civilians. The return of hostages is long overdue, and if the reported deal is adhered to, the removal of Israeli troops in Gaza is an essential move toward finally ending the violence. It is clear much work lies ahead, but I'm appreciative of the efforts of all those involved in these critical peace negotiations."
