Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani has just received a telephone call from Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, who wished to express his condolences to the Minister and the Italian Government following the death of an Italian citizen during the shooting in Aarau, and offered full and immediate assistance with the investigation to apprehend the perpetrator and to ascertain whether any other Italians were among the injured.
Tajani expressed his appreciation for Switzerland's gesture of solidarity and friendship and for its offer of assistance.
The Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with the Embassy in Bern and the Consulate-General in Basel and is providing support to the family of the Italian national. The Chargé d'Affaires in Bern is travelling to the scene together with the liaison officer from the State Police to monitor the investigation closely.
