September 12 Community Celebration to Commemorate Approximately 22.5-Acre Land Donation and Celebrate Grove Park's History and Future

ATLANTA - The City of Atlanta and Atlanta Urban Development Corporation (AUD) will host a community celebration Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Microsoft's donated parcel at Quarry Yards in Atlanta's Grove Park neighborhood.

The event will commemorate Microsoft's donation of approximately 22.5 acres of land for community-focused development and recognize the partnership among Microsoft, the City of Atlanta, AUD and the Grove Park community.

The celebration will also highlight Grove Park's rich history and the generations of residents who have shaped the neighborhood while looking ahead to the next phase of work to bring community-focused development, affordable housing and expanded opportunities to the area.

WHY:
Microsoft's approximately 22.5-acre land donation represents a significant opportunity to advance community-focused development in Grove Park. The property, which fronts Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, is positioned near important neighborhood resources, including KIPP Woodson Academy and the Grove Park Recreation Center.

The donation supports Mayor Andre Dickens' goal of constructing or preserving 20,000 affordable housing units by 2029 and AUD's mission to leverage publicly controlled land to create mixed-income, amenity-rich communities with long-term affordability.
