Lowe's is elevating its dedication to serve communities and the infrastructure that supports them to the next level, by over 10 million square feet, in fact. The new commitment evolves from a longstanding tradition of Lowe's dedication to the communities it serves by helping neighbors in need repair their homes, responding during the darkest hours following disasters, and renovating community spaces. The goal? To make America's communities a better place to live and work.
The Lowe's 10 million square feet of impact promise will measure all the ways the company helps each year, tracking its force for good foot by foot, from building playgrounds for children, to planting community gardens and restoring community centers, to distributing supplies after a disaster, to repairing homes for neighbors in need.
Lowe's has already started gaining ground on the 10 million square foot goal through the recent 24-hour bed build in partnership with non-profit Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Over 5,500 associates and volunteers showed up to build 5,000 beds for children who go without around the nation. The massive effort delivered on 100,000 square feet of impact, not to mention the immeasurable effect on the children who will receive the handcrafted beds.
The momentum will continue with the upcoming launch of Lowe's 4th consecutive year of the Lowe's Hometowns program. The five-year, $100 million initiative that powers 100 large-scale community projects annually, alongside 1,700 associate-led efforts. From neighborhood parks to food pantries, these projects are turning urgent needs into new beginnings - and each one will now be measured as part of Lowe's 10 million-square-foot goal.
Lowe's will provide updates on milestones to track the 10 million square feet of impact promise, showcasing the square footage transformed through its work with veterans, disaster relief efforts, community space renovations and more. Lowe's How We Help Hub will share updates on its continued efforts to deliver 10 million square feet of impact.
