Pontiac, Mich. - Oakland County Executive David Coulter today celebrated the official opening of the Oakland 360 Care Center, a unique facility designed to expand access to integrated health services for residents. Developed in partnership with Honor Community Health, Oakland Community Health Network, Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency, and Oakland County, the center provides behavioral health support, wrap-around resources, and primary health care regardless of a person's ability to pay.
The Penske Foundation pledged $3 million last December to bolster services provided by the care center over the next three years. The state of Michigan provided $5 million from the general fund to help seed the integrated care center.
"There is a growing need for immediate and comprehensive care to meet our community needs," said Coulter. "This center represents our collective commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to accessing the support they need."Located at 48980 Woodward Ave. in Pontiac, the Oakland 360 Care Center is open seven days a week for walk-in services:
Services include support for mental health and substance use, assistance with food and housing resources, and care for common physical health concerns such as cold and flu symptoms.
Since its soft launch in May 2024, the center has already begun to transform care delivery in Oakland County. More than 2,000 patients have received services, with nearly 78 percent being women, 25 percent uninsured and more than half speaking Spanish.
Debra Brinson, CEO of Honor Community Health, emphasized the importance of the clinic's integrated approach.
"What sets this clinic apart is its multidisciplinary team approach, which addresses not only the acute medical issues an individual seeks care for but also its commitment to screening for and addressing behavioral health needs and potential social barriers to care, such as transportation challenges, housing instability and insurance navigation," she said.
"This initiative is a powerful example of how cross-sector collaboration can strengthen our system by integrating behavioral health into whole-person care - breaking down barriers, reducing stigma, and fostering stronger, healthier communities." said Dana Lasenby, CEO of Oakland Community Health Network.
Deputy County Executive Madiha Tariq noted the holistic approach of the clinic.
"This is a place where anyone can walk in for an immediate health concern and be connected with people who care about them as a person, not just treat the symptoms or situations they are experiencing. The care center is more than just a clinic - it's a place where critical resources and support are given to residents to help them improve their overall well-being," she said.
Coulter first introduced his vision for the Oakland 360 Care Center during his 2023 State of the County address, as part of a broader strategy to respond to the rising number of adults experiencing mental health crises.
"This clinic will be a lifeline," Coulter said. "With the help of partners like Penske Foundation, Honor Community Health, Oakland Community Health Network and Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency, we have created a center that is a model for accessible, integrated care."
